Protecting Your Skin

The best time to apply sunscreen is 30 minutes before you go out and face the sun. By doing this you allow your skin to absorb the product . If you decide to take a swim remember you have to reapply the sunscreen. It has to be reapplied  continuously throughout the day. a SPF 30 sunscreen is only protecting you for 30 minutes of sun exposure.

Find out what to look for in a  sunscreen...

There are many choices available to us when selecting a sunscreen. Right now I am using a Neutrogena brand and it seems to be doing it's job and it is not breaking me out.

Pick a broad spectrum sunscreen that protect against UV-A and UV-B rays. We always here this advice but are not sure as to what it means. UV-A rays are longer in length and can penetrate deep into the skin layers and cause damage.
UV-B rays are shorter in length and don't penetrate as deep as UV-A. The UV-B rays are the ones that tan your skin.

If you will be swimming please get a waterproof brand . If you have oily skin and are prone to acne, use a water based sunscreen.

So lather up and keep your skin protected!

  1. Dear Sharada, yesterday was the one of the hottest days since the summer started. I wore primer , but I found that my makeup started melting away a bit. Since I have dry skin , is it ok to use a little translucent powder , or what do u recommend? - Sonji

  2. You could try using blotting powder, which absorbs the oil. Black Opal is good or you can try another brand once it is blotting powder.Hope it works, let me know.
