What is My Undertone?

It is important when selecting colors that compliment our face that we know what undertones are present in our skin. You are either warm or cool. The question is which one are you?

warm undertones

This person has warm undertones in their skin, do you notice that the colors are bright and not pasty. If you applied warm colors such as golds, oranges to your skin and it shows up as being pasty, you have a cool undertone.

Cool Undertone

The cool tones applied ranging from blues, sliver and purple are not pasty from rows 9-18. The top rows show a bit of pastiness.

The Test!

Start out by applying a gold swatch and a silver swatch of color on your hand. You will notice that one swatch will look pasty and the other will look bright. If the silver swatch looks bright you are cool toned, or if the gold looks bright and the silver pasty, you are most definitly warm toned.

Take a close look at the back of your hands, warm skin tones will have a yellow orange cast. Cool tones has no yellow orange cast. If you are cool, you will see evidence of blue undertones, just by looking at your veins. If your veins are blue you are cool toned. If you notice that your veins are green you are warm toned.
