Seeing someone in stage makeup up close might appear over done. The reason for thr over dramatization of the face depends on the size of the audience.The rule of thumb is the larger the audience the more defined and intense the makeup has to be because. If you had say an audience of 20 , a normal makeup application would suffice, as the audience would see your face easily. However if you had 2,000 persons in the audience you woud have to exaggerate your features, such as your browas, eyes, add more blush and a more defined lips so you would not appear washed out.
Here are some of the steps;
- Apply your moisturizer to a clean face, allowing it to be absorbed by our skin.
- Select a foundation slightly darker than your skin tone, this will help the stage light not wash not washing out. It is suggested to use a stick foundation, one with more coverage and durability.
- Apply loose powder in the color of your skin tone.
- Blush comes next, smile and apply the blush from the middle of your smiling cheeks right back to your ear.
- Apply eyeliner - For creamy pencil, liquid, gel or pen, use the tip of the brush or point for the finest line, getting right at the base of the lashes. Angle the point for a heavier look. Extend the line from one corner of your eye to the other. (If that corner-to-corner look is too harsh, begin instead at the point near the inside corner of your lid, where your lashes begin.) Creamy pencil may then be smudged into a shadowy effect or left as a defined line.
- For Eyeshadow application you can use your foundation on the eyes as a base if you don't have a primer.
- Lip Liner is the next step.Choose a clear color lip liner(now available) or one that is the same shade as the lipstick you will be using. This is an important step as the lip liner keeps the lipstick from bleeding on to your face should you become heated and sweaty. If will help you maintain well defined lips throughout your performance. Once the liner is applied (on the outer edge of the lips...but not outside), you can fill in with your choice of lip color.
