Color Coded Brushes!

I came across this very user friendly brand of brushes that helps to take the guess work out of which brushes are used for what. Fairweather Faces  came up with an idea to color code their brushes which is used with their  face chart. All you have to do is look at the chart and select the color located on the brush and start your makeup application. This is a great idea especially for those who are just getting into makeup and are familiarizing themselves with brushes.

Check out the brushes after the break.

Virtual Makeover!

I came across this very interesting tool where you can play around with color to see how you look. All you have to do is upload your picture and start to select colors to see which works. Even though nothing beats the real thing, I kind of like the idea it is like playing dress up. What will they come up next. Well done Mary Kay!

Things I Love at the moment!

These products have proven themselves to be extremely durable, how can you beat Ben Nye's blush wheel where you get 6 cream blushes for the price of one $16. They are of excellent quality and high pigmentation. For La Femme Blush powder which I use for a natural glow for around $4.95 it is a great deal if you can overlook the packaging. Sometimes great things come in unexpected things. This blush is very diverse and can be used on a wide cross section of skin tones.
Yaby's cream shadows albeit, very pricey $155.00, this product I would recommend for a makeup artist kit, is excellent waterproof makeup that gives outstanding results.

Five Stars!!!

As you must have realise by now I am a fan of researching and reading reviews on products. It helps a great deal when trying to test out a product. From my research I discovered that the CoverGirl Queen Collection got great reviews for women of color.

CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer

CoverGirl bronzer shades range from Rich Sand to True Ebony and has gotten good reviews. We know that the formulation has to work with darker skin tones as some bronzers tend to make the skin ashy. Check it out and let me know if it works. Remember to select a color that is a shade or two darker than your skin tone

What is a must in your Kit

If you are thinking of becoming a makeup artist and you are stating to build your kit there are some important must haves in your kit. From my experience it is always a good idea to have above and beyond because you never know what you may be called on to do. Here are two things you should have just in case.

As an artist you may come across the occasional case where a model comes in with red eyes and that is a real no no. It is always best to have your trusty Visine handy to clear the redness as you want the best pictures possible with minimal corrections in post production.

Blush !

A great blush can brighten your face and give you a little color on those cheeks. One of my personal fav's which is very natural is Iman's Sunlit Copper.

Makeup essentials!

Tools!

A good set of brushes are important when applying your makeup, the brushes you use when applying your bronzer and blush can make a world of a difference. A great tip before buying a brush is to run your fingers through the hairs to see if you have fall out. If you are able to get the hairs out that means the brush is not so good. Another good investment is a good foundation brush and concealer.
If you are on a budget I can personally recommend Eco tools, it is a bamboo brush foundation that has natural fibers and is cruelty free. It is an excellent brush that has rivaled my Prescriptives foundation brush. I have yet to see a hair come loose and you can't beat that it is for only $7.99. I have quite a few of them and it was the brush used in my foundation application tutorial.
