Eco Friendly Tooth Whitener!

Did you know that there are quite a number of natural ways to whiten your teeth? A great inexpensive teeth whitener can be found in your home just get a mix of lemon juice and some salt solution. This works wonders in whitening your teeth without all the chemicals - isn't that great?


How to:
To whiten with lemon and salt, just stir up a solution of 75 percent lemon juice and 25 percent salt. Mix it together and you have your own natural teeth whitener.


Some Tips to Keep in Mind:

If you are on a low sodium diet be careful not to swallow the solution. If you have sensitive teeth this rinse may be too strong for you.

Homemade Brush Cleaner!

This is a great recipe if you love to make your own brush cleaner.It's cheaper to use products you have in your home than purchasing store bought solutions.

1 cup distilled water

1/4 cup alcohol (70% or 90%)

1/2 tablespoon dishwashing liquid (I prefer ones with moisturizer)

1/2 tablespoon shampoo ( I use baby shampoo)

1 tablespoon leave-on conditioner (I actually added a bit more to the solution)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, carefully stirring to avoid forming suds. And then transfer the solution to an atomizer and voila!

DIY Eye Mask

When you think of an eye mask you automatically think about relaxation and rest.There are many different eye masks on the market, gel based to satin masks. I came up with a very innovative mask which utilizes cucumber and potatoes which help reduce puffiness. For creativity we will use coffee filters as the base to create this wonderful mask.

DIY - Feather Lashes

If you are curious about how feather lashes are made this ones just for you. I am a big fan of DIY, I think it makes things more fun. To make your own custom lashes this is all you will need:


Feather Lash Recipe

• 1 toothpick
• feathers ( you can get at the craft store)
• nail glue (works the best)
• rhinestones (optional)

To make your lashes all you need is a bit of creativity and good old patience.

Melt it - Lips!

Using your lipstick from a tube sometimes can be a bit troublesome especially if you are in a rush and you are scouring around trying to find that particular lip color that you want to wear. So for those hectic moments why not think about melting or depotting your favorite lip colors into a palette where you can find them easily as they will all be in one location and transportable you need to slip them in your hand bag.

Signature Lip Stain!

As you already might have guessed I like to experiment and so with Fall trends I decided that it would be interesting to look at some ideas as to how make lip stains with products we have in our home.The idea behind lip stains is to temporarily saturate the lips with color with a dye, rather than applying a colored wax to the lips to color them. Here's a natural recipe that will work for your pretty pout.

Step 1

Dice a beet root.

Step 2

Set out for 1 to 2 days until completely dried out.

Step 3

Crush Beet to fine powder with a rolling pin, spoon, or pestle and mortar, and then sift root to separate chunks.

At this point, you'll want to decide what kind of tint you want. 

• For a stain like a "Benetint," warm 3 tablespoons of walnut or almond oil with 3 tablespoons of water. 

• For a light, shear tint like "Clinique's" line of "Almost Lipstick," use 6 tablespoons pure almond or walnut oil. 

When oil is warmed, you will need to experiment with how much color you want. Crushed beet root can make a light pinkish color or a deep red.
To store tint, pour into a makeup pot. This stain does not need to be refrigerated. 

Lip Prep: Exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub or your toothpaste so that the dead skin is removed. Lip Stains are best applied on dry lips.

You can use your old lip gloss containers or get some new one from the craft stores such as Micheals.

DIY- Natural Face Moisturizer

It is important that we moisturize our skin after the cleansing process which strips the skin of its oils. Loving all things natural I came across this great natural face moisturizer recipe that I thought was very wholesome and figured maybe you would enjoy it.


Recipe:

• 1 fresh lime
• 1/4 cup boiled whole milk
• 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Directions/storage

mix all your ingredients together creating the natural face moisturizer.

You can store this moisturizer for a few days in your refrigerator.

The lactic acid in the milk alongside the olive oil will help to soften the skin. The properties from the lime citric acid will help to lighten  your skin of blemishes.

Skin Toners Made Easy!

 Using a toner for your skin is very important in your skin care regimen.Toning puts your skins pH back to it's normal range and it closes the pores to your skin. (Cleansing opens them to clean them out, toning closes them). If you don't tone your skin you will lose moisture and your skin risks becoming dehydrated. Secondly toning closes the open pores, if left open, dust and other air borne particles will able to penetrate your skin easily. If you love lemons here is a great recipe for you!


Lemon Mint Toner Recipe

• 1 peppermint tea bag
• 1/4 cup witch hazel
• 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
• 1 cup boiling water

I know this toner will refresh and revitalize you a great way to enjoy the weekend.

Baking Soda Mask = SoFt Skin

Baking soda is one of the biggest secrets to getting really soft skin, I am not sure how it slipped me. Yesterday I got out my ingredients and put that baby on and I felt it start to work, it helps to give you clear skin by pulling out the black heads and great for acne prone skin. This is my new favorite mask and guess what? It is quite easy to do. Check out this easy recipe to get you started, look out for more variations in my future posts.


Baking Soda Mask Recipe

• 1 Tbsp baking soda
• 1 Tsp water

Directions

Mix ingredients and apply it to your face.You can use circular motions when applying and then let it sit for up to 15 minutes. If you feel any tingling or burning, just rinse.Please note it is advised that you do this mask 2 - 3 times a week as over doing it can lead to dryness.

Sugar Scrub Your Lip !

We should be aware that exfoliating our face and our body is important to removing the dead cells that seek to hide the glowing skin we really have laying beneath. Let's not forget that our lips need love as well, especially if we will be wearing those yummy Fall colors. Here is a quick recipe to get your lips fall ready with this delish homemade lip scrub.


Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe.

• 1/2 tbsp olive oil
• 1/4 tsp brown sugar
• 2-3 drops peppermint oil

Directions

• Mix the olive oil and brown sugar until it forms a thick paste.
• add 2- 3 drops of essential peppermint oil.

Storage

• Transfer sugar scrub to a small container with a lid.
• This will keep for one month at room temperature.

I hope this scrub will get your lippies ready for all the luscious colors of Fall!

Pore Strips Made Easy!

The Ingredients

• 1 tbsp unflavored gelatin (Knox unflavored gelatin)
• 1 1/2 tbsp milk

1. Mix ingredients in microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 10 seconds until warm.
2. Apply to your nose, chin,cheeks or forehead, wherever you need it. Use a cotton ball or makeup brush if you so desire.
3. Wait 10-15 minutes till mixture dries. You will know when it is dry because it will be hard to the touch. 
4. Start peeling the edges of the strip slowly working your way to the center of the strip.
5. After removal wash your face of remaining gelatin and proceed to moisturize. Please note your skin might be a tad red if you have sensitive skin. Use ice packs to reduce redness .

Beauty Project- Tinted Moisturizer.

I am a big fan of DIY, it is always worth a try. My last project of making my cream blush from my broken blush came out spectacular. So today we are going to experimetn yet again and make our own tinted moisturizer. You only need 2 ingredients.

1. Liquid foundation
2. Spf Moisturizer.

Today I will be using my Maybelline Fit Me foundation #320 Honey Beige.

My moisturizer will be my trusted Oil of Olay which acts as the second ingredient.

Sea Salt anyone?

As the big Labor day holiday approaches, I though it might be fun for us to try out a great citrus salt scrub to get our bodies exfoliated. Sea salt scrubs are great for exfoliating your body when you are showering or bathing and it is even more beneficial when using it with essential oils. Here's a great recipe to help you remove the dead skin cells, leaving you fresh and revitalized.


Citrus Sea Scrub Recipe

• Pour 16 oz. sea salt in a glass or stainless steel mixing bowl. 
• Add 10 to 15 drops of essential citrus oil to the sea salt. 
• Use the metal whisk to thoroughly distribute the essential oils into the sea salt. This recipe creates a basic citrus sea salt scrub.

For Dry Skin

Add extra virgin olive oil or almond oil to your sea salt scrub if you have dry skin and want to add moisture to your exfoliating process.

Storage

Store your finished sea salt scrub in a glass container with an airtight lid. Store the scrub away from direct sunlight, in a cool area.

Beauty Project!

I decided for my weekend project that I was going to transform one of my favorite powder blushes into a cream based blush. Check out how I turned my Sunlit Copper blush into cream.

 I started with a small amount of moisturizer.

 Mix until you like the consistiency. Creamy, not runny.

Have A Fruit Mask!

It's the start of a the weekend and what a great way to release the week by having a fruit mask.
This DIY mask is just the thing you need to wake up with glowing skin. Here's all you need.


Recipe:
 2  large strawberries (YUM)
 2 tablespoons of papaya (you can eat the rest)
 1 egg white
1/2 cucumber


Directions:
Puree ingredients in a blender. Easy isn't it?
Apply to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse and moisturize.

For every cosmetic bag,I can bet that we can find at least one lip gloss present. Glosses are a favorite as it can  instantly freshen up your face and put a smile on your chapped lips.

• 0.25 cups vegetable/nut oil
• 0.25 oz beeswax
• 1tsp honey/glycerin
• 0.5-1tsp of essential oil of your choice

R U Ready For Fall?

Can you believe that Fall is walking up the driveway and almost at our door steps? You know what that means, we have to get ready, lipstick.. check... shadow.... If you are not ready and not too sure what is in for Fall let's do a quick rundown.

Bold lips (Reds and Berries)

You can either do a full lip of blasting bold color or if you are like me you can do a tint of the color on your lips. Just use your fingers and dab it on your lips.For longevity blot your lips and reapply in a dabbing motion.

Whip up Your Blush!

I know it looks tempting but we're not going to eat we are going to whip up our very own cream blush. Let's get started.

• Take an eye shadow you love or a powder blush along with your moisturizer.
•  First pour or scrape  the shadow into then start  adding in small quantities your       moisturizer mixing it in  till you get the consistency you desire.
• A great mixing tool can either be a toothpick or even a hair pin.
•  For a touch of sheen you can add a bit of shimmer to the mixture.

There you have it easy as pie. So get whipping today!

DIY Pressed powder!

DIY Why Not!!! Making your own pressed powders can be quite fun. All you need is your loose powder and alcohol 99%


The Steps

• 1 old compact container or empty eye shadow pan
• loose powder it can be mineral or translucent
• pour powder into the compact
• slowly add in your alcohol 99% and mix it in with a toothpick
• smooth it out and leave it air dry.

Alcohol will bind the powder together and then evaporate.
